Make the most of the snowy season in La Jacques-Cartier

In the forest sparkling with a fresh coat of snow, you can ski, skate, toboggan, walk, and relax… then enjoy a good bite to eat! And if you’re looking to extend the fun, there are plenty of accommodations to choose from.

Let us show you some of our favourite things to do once the temperature drops. You’ll fall in love with this winter wonderland!

Skate along winding trails or on a frozen lake

Whether you’re at the Parc du Grand Héron or the Shannon Sports Chalet, the forest trails are as romantic as they are fun. And when you skate on Lac Beauport, the darkness of the water under the ice makes the experience all the more stunning. Meet at the yacht club parking lot and lace up your skates!

Hit the slopes at yout own speed

Many of us love to ski and snowboard at ski resorts. We’re fortunate that there are two major ones within 30 minutes of downtown Québec City: Le Relais and the Stoneham Mountain Resort.

Tubing with your friends and family is another great opportunity for fun and laughter. Enjoy your time together at Village Vacances Valcartier’s outdoor playground, at the Glissades Tewkesbury, or at the Centre récréotouristique des Hautes-Terres.

Recharge your batteries with a trip to the spa

There’s no better way to lift your spirits than relaxing in a Nordic spa surrounded by nature. In addition to the hot baths and treatments we all deserve more often, Le Nordique Spa Stoneham offers overnight stays in tiny houses overlooking the valley.

La Jacques-Cartier has plenty of other spas to discover, too. Take a look !

Peaceful snowshoeing

Fall in love with the landscapes, not to mention the grey jays, chickadees, and other birds you encounter as you trek through the snow. Get ready to tackle the snowy trails! Soak in the stunning scenery of the Jacques-Cartier National Park, the Réserve faunique des Laurentides, Mont Wright, Sentiers du Moulin, Marais du Nord, the Station Duchesnay, or Empire 47.

Take a fatbike — a bike with oversized tires for biking in the snow—and enjoy dozens of kilometres of trails. Don’t have your own fatbike? Several places have them available for rent, like the Centre Castor, Empire 47, and Sentiers du Moulin. It’s a great way to spend time with your friends!

Cross-country skiing: active, yet serene
