You\u2019re feeling antsy and need some fresh air. What to do? Why not take your car, motorcycle, or bike and follow the silver, blue, and green steel structures that make up the Discovering the Jacques-Cartier Valley circuit! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow the <a href=\"https:\/\/mrc.jacques-cartier.com\/la-mrc\/culture-et-patrimoine\/circuits-culturels-regionaux\/\">10 markers with sound capsules and interpretive panels<\/a> in any order you like as you crisscross the region. A fascinating history awaits! <strong>We\u2019ve put together three suggested routes for you<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just follow the markers!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1198\" src=\"https:\/\/jacques-cartier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/tourisme-jc_partir-decouverte-low.jpg\" alt=\"La d\u00e9couverte de La Jacques-Cartier _ Discover La Jacques-Cartier\" class=\"wp-image-534\" style=\"aspect-ratio:4\/3;object-fit:cover;width:850px\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Discover La Jacques-Cartier : West<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Work on your cardio with a walk, jog, or bike along <strong>Fossambault-sur-le-Lac\u2019s<\/strong> multipurpose trail. At the corner of Gingras and Anse-Bellevue streets, take a break\u2026 or jog in place! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take advantage of the pit stop to listen to the sound capsule from the marker at the edge of the trail. The voices you hear will take you right back to the golden age of resorts in the municipality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure to take a detour through the little streets nearby, too. Like the city folk who flocked to the area in the late 19th century, you\u2019ll be charmed by the picturesque landscape and stunning views of the beautiful Lac Saint-Joseph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Continue to discover La Jacques-Cartier on to the <a href=\"https:\/\/mrc.jacques-cartier.com\/repertoire_culturel\/chapelle-saint-joseph-du-lac\/\">Saint-Joseph-du-Lac Chapel<\/a>, just under three kilometres away. Then it\u2019s time for another little break! You\u2019ll find another marker on the edge of the trail, close to the neo-Gothic chapel. Take the time to listen to the history of this former place of worship, which was built in 1902 for vacationers of the past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At this point, you\u2019re probably pretty hungry! Turn around and head to <strong>Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier<\/strong> to grab a bite to eat at your favourite restaurant. Why not go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jacques-cartier.com\/fr\/fiche\/parc-du-grand-h-ron-t\">Parc du Grand H\u00e9ron<\/a> while you digest? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure to stop in front of the nearby Centre socioculturel Anne-H\u00e9bert for another marker! See the beauty of the area\u2019s landscapes in a new light as you take in excerpts from works by Qu\u00e9bec literary titans Anne H\u00e9bert and Hector de Saint-Denys-Garneau. Once in the park, you\u2019ll be able to enjoy even more work by these two local authors thanks to the panels along the La\u00a0Liseuse trail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Discover La Jacques-Cartier : Central<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>How about a bike ride on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jacques-cartier.com\/en\/fiche\/v-lopiste-jacques-cartier-port\">Jacques-Cartier\/Portneuf cycling path<\/a>? You can ride up to <strong>Shannon<\/strong>, then stop at the wagon for a sip of water. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While you\u2019re at it, take the time to learn a little about the history of the railroad that now serves as a bike path. All aboard\u2026 the audio journey!\u00a0\u263a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you feel like it, get off the trail and head to <strong>Saint-Gabriel-de-Valcartier<\/strong>. At the municipal park, right next to the beautiful Clark Bridge, take a moment to relax and learn more about the municipality. There are two markers to discover there: one tells you about the construction of the metal bridge that spans the Rivi\u00e8re Jacques-Cartier, the other shares the stories of the first residents who formed the cultural mosaic that characterizes this part of the region to this day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Discover La Jacques-Cartier : East<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Next stop: <strong>Stoneham-et-Tewkesbury<\/strong> to sate your thirst (and your curiosity)! After a good <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jacques-cartier.com\/en\/fiche\/microbrasserie-la-souche\">microbrewery<\/a> beer, it\u2019s just a hop, skip, and a jump to 1re Avenue for a little stroll. Along the way, you\u2019ll pass a few houses with ties to the establishment of the forestry industry in the early 20th century, followed by the Saint-Edmond Catholic Church in the heart of a heritage site. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll easily be able to spot the bright colours of this marker on the circuit. By reading the interpretive panel or scanning the QR code with your mobile device, you\u2019ll learn what the beautiful white and red farm building behind the rectory was used for. You\u2019ll also meet some of the \u201cfarming priests\u201d who tilled the municipality\u2019s soil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For brunch, head to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jacques-cartier.com\/en\/fiche\/manoir-du-lac-delage-spa-et-centre-de-sant\">Manoir du Lac Delage<\/a>! You can always walk around the expansive grounds to work up an appetite while enjoying the superb view and tranquil surroundings. Before you sit down to eat, take the time to learn more about the birth of the city, which was built for leisure and tourism. The <a href=\"https:\/\/mrc.jacques-cartier.com\/la-mrc\/culture-et-patrimoine\/circuits-culturels-regionaux\/\">marker<\/a> is right at the manor\u2019s parking lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Are you a lover of lakeside landscapes, mountains, and art? It\u2019s time to hit the road for <strong>Lac-Beauport<\/strong>! Park at the yacht club to get a better view of the lake and the natural surroundings. In the park, you\u2019ll discover the diverse talents of many local artists who exhibit in the Corrid\u2019Art. Amongst the large panels highlighting the visual and literary arts, you\u2019ll find a marker with a sound capsule. Take a few minutes to listen! You\u2019ll learn that the municipality was a choice site for new water and winter sports, as well as new competitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After that, you\u2019re already at the last stop: <strong>Sainte-Brigitte-de-Laval<\/strong>! At the heart of the municipality is Richelieu Park, which features a lake in the middle. It\u2019s a great place to relax or catch fish! When you arrive or before you go, make sure to read the sign attached to the marker.
