Sentiers du Moulin (SDM) - Winter

Located 20 minutes from Québec City, Sentiers du Moulin (SDM) offers quality winter activities for both experts and beginners.

Don’t have any equipment? No problem, there’s a rental boutique on site.

4 types of activities available during the winter:

Fatbiking

SDM is a haven for fatbikes, which feel somewhat like mountain bikes with their oversized tires. With 35 km of singletrack trails, you can ride cross-country or in fat-duro mode.

For fat-duro enthusiasts, these are the best tracks: Super G, Graffiti, Élan, Fabuleuse, Carcajou, and Maelstrom.

Cross-country skiing

You’ll be able to ski in an enchanting forest environment on a total of 38 km of classic ski trails and 10 km of skating trails. More experienced skiers can enjoy long-distance options to the La Tanière shelter in a 25 km loop that is at 630 m of altitude. Families or beginners can ski an easy loop along the Waterloo River with return options at 3, 5, and 7 km up to the Poulin shelter.

SDM has a total of 5 heated shelters for you to rest or warm up in.

Patrollers are on the trails to ensure your safety and guide you.

Skijoring

It’s cross-country skiing while being pulled by your dog, and can be done during specific time slots.

Snowshoeing

Move through a network of marked and secured trails in a peaceful and enchanting environment for more than 20 km in 2 areas with several breathtaking viewpoints.

Maelstrom area: Climb Mount Tourbillon up to the summit at 584 metres of altitude. This area offers exceptional topography and the views are amazing. Please inquire at the reception desk before venturing out.

The centre offers a network of snowshoeing trails totalling approximately 20 km. Come take a walk in an enchanting and peaceful environment less than 20 km from the heart of Québec City.

If you don’t have snowshoes, no problem. The staff at the equipment rental store will provide you with what you need.

Backcountry skiing or snowboarding

For backcountry enthusiasts, SDM is an appealing resort for having fun in the powdery snow.

The “undergrowth” section has a vertical drop of 170 m. The forest is designed for a thrilling experience and for skier safety. The trail to the top allows you to reach the summit in less than 20 minutes.

For the brave, a “freestyle” zone with jumps and platforms is set up.
