Entourage sur-le-Lac: the perfect (and cozy!) base camp.
To get the most out of your snowy family getaway experience in La Jacques-Cartier, Entourage sur-le-Lac is where you should drop your bags. Scenically located on the shores of Lac Beauport, the resort combines comfort and luxury in a spectacular setting.
Our favourite part is the wide array of activities available right at the resort. The hotel has direct access to the popular 2.45 km ice-skating rink, right on the lake.
There’s no need to bring your own equipment: Entourage provides everything you need (a major plus!). You can also use the resort’s fat bikes, snow scooters and snowshoes, free of charge, to explore the area. There’s also a calendar of activities, including yoga and meditation classes, and a special program for kids during spring break.
As for the facilities, we really enjoyed the game room, the massive gym and the outdoor hot tub. Don’t miss a stop at L’îlot Repère gourmand restaurant, located right at the hotel, which offers a comforting and varied menu showcasing fresh, local ingredients. Whether you’re staying at the resort or just passing through the region, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a delicious meal after a day of outdoor activities.
Have fun at the Centre récréotouristique des Hautes Terres
A true hidden gem lies just minutes from Québec City! The Centre récréotouristique des Hautes Terres is definitely a must-visit spot in La Jacques-Cartier—especially for a snowy family getaway.
Our favourite experience? A dog-sledding adventure through the snowy landscapes of Montagne à Deux-Têtes. It was incredible! The dogs are true athletes, and they’re happy and well-treated at the centre. You can feel all the love that Marc-Antoine, the centre’s general manager, has for the furry residents. It’s the polar opposite of the image of sad kennel with animals locked in tiny cages.
For even more fun, head to the snow tubing area! It has five fun runs that are accessible to everyone, so young and old alike will have a blast.
Next, head to the Sommet Bistro Pub, located right at the recreation centre—the perfect place to wind down. Our meal was excellent— the onion soup and beef skirt steak quesadillas are absolutely delicious.
Rediscover Le Relais
The Centre de ski Le Relais is an essential destination in La Jacques-Cartier region, especially during a snowy family getaway. Nearly everyone in the area has had their first ski experience right here. It was such a joy for us to (re)discover the mountain with the family! With its vibrant atmosphere and top-notch facilities, this is the place to go for an unforgettable ski outing, whether you’re a young beginner or a seasoned pro.
The thing that impressed us most is the variety of slopes! The runs are accessible and not too long—perfect for kids. You end up back at the chairlift quickly, so their little legs can have a break. For skiers of all ages who love a challenge, is another essential stop. With well-designed obstacles and jumps for different levels, it’s safe and perfect for hours of fun.
Another highlight of Le Relais is the evening hours. The mountain is completely lit-up at night, so you can keep the fun going long after the sun has set.

Boulangerie du Lac: An essential stop for lovers of fresh bread and sweet treats.
